Heads up
Seaweed risk: moderate
Sargassum seaweed is a concern for the Riviera Maya region. Historically, the worst months are between April and August/September, with lower risk from November to February/January. The Riviera Maya is highly exposed to sargassum. When present, it can cause an unpleasant odor and limit beach access, though hotels often make efforts to clean their beaches. Swimming in large quantities is not advisable due to potential skin irritation.
Fine white sand and crystal-clear waters. TRS Yucatan has a premium VIP beach area and an exclusive, Ibiza-style beach club (Helios). The resort's immediate shoreline can be rocky, but shuttle service is available to the main stretch of sand shared with the Grand Palladium complex.
